Eclipse is Coming

  • Aug. 15th, 2008 at 8:06 PM
ECLIPSE sun slight red
Natural the eclipse took part so far, exactly yesterday when City lost their first 2nd leg UEFA qualifying match against Danish side Midtjylland with 1-0. I haven't seen it and am glad for this. I hope the boys will fight in the second match a fortnight away.

But the real eclipse of the moon will take part in the night from Saturday to Sunday. It will be a partial one with 80% darkness of the moon. The best moments you may see between 11:10 p.m and 1:21 a.m (for the British Isles: 10:10 p.m and 0:21 a.m). That's maybe the first day ever I wish that there will be no clouds upon the sky.

From Tuesday morning I am away on my way to Dublin for my one week holidays. I hope I'll come back healthy and be able to tell some good stories.

Bye so far and till soon! Enjoy the first matches of this season's PL!!

The draws were made and City got Midtjylland from Denmark for their 2nd UEFA cup qualification round. The first match will be on 14th August and the return a fortnight later. I haven't heard of this Danish club yet, but you should never underrate the underdogs!

Good luck for you, boys!!

The Beginning of the New Season Starts Here

  • Jul. 17th, 2008 at 6:18 PM
DUNNIE hugging SCHMEICHEL

My mood is a bit parted at the moment, because in about ... let me see ... one and a half hours there will be the starting whistle for the UEFA Cup qualifying first round match between  EB/Streymur and Manchester City. My mood is situated something between excited (because this means the beginning of the new season), curious (because I want to know how different the boys will play after the last 8-1 debacle in the PL) and frightened (because the performance from the 8-1 debacle is still too vivid into my mind). At the very moment I hope they will win and so have a good result for the second match in about two weeks.

GIGI on ground

I wanted to write about days ago, but maybe I am able to write in years, because this topic is currently the main subject here in Dresden. What else as the years ago planned new bridge? It feels to me as if this topic is the only political subject since I've moved here.

When the bridge was planned there was a referendum before the final decision by the parliament and I confess, that I've voted with 'yes' - surely because it certainly will ease traffic congestion. But what we didn't know there was the fact, that to build the bridge would mean lose the World Heritage Site status of the Dresden Elbe Valley. So, the citizen's decicion finally was 'yes'.

Then the fact with the World Heritage Site status went public and suddenly almost every citizen of Dresden turned his decicion into 'no'. If this new bridge would mean the loss of the WHS status, than we say: NEVER! Meanwhile - at the last act so far, no compromise about the appearance will change the decicion of the WHS representatives:

Dresden Bridge Ultimatum )

An absolute ridiculousness about the whole thing is, that a tunnel would cost the same as the bridge and wouldn't bring the WHS status in danger. The Dresden parliament is such a child!

It's DUNNE!! And it was in time. I'm very delighted and obviously it was almost clear two weeks or so it is something different to know that he REALLY did it! So, good news that - now we can look forward to a good season to come.

Predictions for 2008/09

Everyone who knows me will know that I'm mad on predict football matches. Last seasons I've made predictions on paper, but next season will be the first time, I am the host of five different predictions online. If you'll follow the links you'll be straight on one of these. It's a German page, but I'll post the English version. If you prefer German, French or Italian you have the ability to click on the little flag up the page. I for myself can't wait on the new season and I hope there will be some of you joining me in the predictions.

One important thing at last: We don't play for money, just for fun - so, don't be afraid - you can't loose house, car or wife ;)

The draw for this season's UEFA Cup qualification round is done and with EB/Streymur from the Faeroer's City should have a great opportunity to take its place for the competition. The matches will be on 17 July and 31 July. Good luck, boys!

[ARTS] Gianluigi Buffon

This time I tried to work more in the art's style. So, I've produced some icons and one single art. Some of them I like, others not - it's a new style of mine and I have to try further. But if you like what you see and probably take some, let me know it and credit in case you'll use. Thank you!

As you already know, when I'm depressed, it's arts time - so yesterday night I've created some icons - enjoy and if you like what you see, feel free to get some, but please comment and credit if you'll use. Thank you!

community banner made by [info]whathobertie thank you!!

I currently have created a community for everything around the English football referee Howard Webb. It's still under working progress, but I would be happy about some members, maybe referees for themselves to talk about refereeing, football, maybe Yorkshire, the home countryside of Mr Webb and, of course, Mr Howard Webb and his job himself.

Just click on [info]webb_journal and read, discuss and post. See you there!

I'm totally depressed at the moment, so I've created a potpourri of Icons (as I always do, when I'm depressed). I think, my report about our own tournament will follow tomorrow or on Wednesday; at first the pure result: we've made the 4th position - lost the half final with 3-0 and then the match for 3rd position with 1-0. Terrible! Pictures will also follow with the post about the tournament. But I'm not depressed because of this but because of the Czechs lost yesterday against agressive and unfair Turks. I'm so sorry for Petr Cech - now hope, that the Netherlands will do the whole tournament.

The World is round and Myself gets weaker

WADI RUM
I have done some pictures yesterday during my jogging through Dresden under the burning sun and one of the raining after my homecoming, but because of the continuating sun today I have reduced my mindpowers to an existing minimum, so I have forgotten the pics and have to post them tomorrow (if it's not too hot then).

Now I'm sitting in front of the institute's computer waiting of our weekly meeting. That's always boring. Every minute another collegue joins the room and brings more noise innit. I can't concentrate myself very well at the moment. But anyway, also I'm a bit sad, because Sven-Goran Eriksson is the ex-manager of ManCity and Richard Dunne is in discussion for several clubs, including Portsmouth and Celtic. I don't want both, but the one fact is now reality and on the other I don't want to think of.

Because of [info]whathobertieI'm now totally irritated with my sense of music. She notices in almost every sentence she writes Coldplay and their new (on 13th June outcoming) album "Viva La Vida". In the last ten years I have ignorned succesfully both Coldplay and their music. But now, on last Saturday, I've heard and seen the video to "Violet Hill" on MTV and was totally impressed. I have enjoyed it and bought it promptly on itunes. Now I'm asking myself very scared if something happened to me, if I'm just got older and now favourite softer music. So maybe I will buy the whole album and will know then, if that is my music or just this very song.

Oh, by the way, the European Championships will start in five days and I'm not interested at all.

The Remembrance Came Back

In respect and to honour JT I wore my JT kit at our yesterday's football match. I had should expected the discussion about the CL final as it took place when I arrived at the pitch. But there were no bad words, all were full of respect and brought very pleasing words to my ears. The match itself was very dusty and warm, because of the sun and the missing rain. My first touch of the ball promptly was a volley goal with my right, but from there on it went all down for my team. We missed the clearest chances to score, I for myself a header, then hit two times the woodwork (this shirt!! but it wasn't a penalty ...) and so - in the end - it was 8-4 against us.

After that we went to a student's club drinking some beer and chatting a while - on stuff far from football. It was 11:30 pm when I was at home again - again with no chance on buying some food to eat. My whole kitchen is empty, but maybe I can loose some weight in that circumstances. I haven't not much to loose, you know, but one or two pounds less probably would help of getting more endurance and power for our football university tournament at 14th June 2008. There will be two groups à four teams - every team of one group plays against all others (like at EUROs) - the best two of each group play the half final, and then the final. The price will be a challenge cup, and I hope we will get it. A detailed report on this will follow, maybe with a few action photographs.

Today it's the Arts

Yesterday I have found another photograph editing programme on my laptop and played a bit with the colouring. Find out, what I've made with clicking on the cut. There are some arts or something - nothing special, but in case you like what you see, please comment and credit, if you'll use. Thanks!

A Warm Welcome to the Three Newbies

  • May. 25th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
DUNNIE hugging SCHMEICHEL
The play-offs for the coming Premier League season is history and the third and last winner is Hull City - for the very first time in their 104-year-club-history they are now promoted into PL. CONGRATULATIONS (but don't win against Man City or Chelsea ;) ). So the three newbies next season in the Premier League will be West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Hull City (instead of Reading, Birmingham City and Derby County).

And I have an announcement to make:
I want to create an own betting community for next Premier League season 08/09, that will appear in here. But at first I have to know, if someone is interested. It will be just for fun, so I don't want any commerce or playing for money - all you can earn is pride and honour, and you may have fun if you'll win. So leave a comment if you are interested, that I can plan the whole thing

FT: ROI 1-1 Serbia

  • May. 24th, 2008 at 11:08 PM
DUNNIE hugging SCHMEICHEL
All in all it was a good start from Giovanni Trapattoni as ROI manager. In the end it was a 1-1 draw, not good but also not bad. And my mood has climed a bit since halftime, because Dunnie's ridiculous alias Honeymonster wasn't on the pitch any more. Instead of this he was handed over the captain's armband from Robbie Keane, who was substitued in the 70th minute. Ha, he made me proud, not just because of this but of the manner he played then - brave as ever, strong and selfconfident. Unfortunately Serbia scored the first goal in the 75th minute by the early before incoming Marko Pantelic and I have had to bite my nails until injury time to hear (from both very enthusiastically reporters) that Andy Keogh scored the equalizer. So, it's a result to built on to and I can go to bed smiling.

It's Icon-time!

Thursday evening and night I've made again some icons with most John Terry, a few huggings and the Bridge from an aerial pic. I hope, you will enjoy - and in case you take some: please comment here and credit if you'll use. Thanks!

A New Era Will Come

  • May. 22nd, 2008 at 5:22 PM
DUNNIE hugging SCHMEICHEL
Hello again,

I'm back from my Doomsday last Tuesday at Braunschweig, where I've passed my Ancient Greek exam with a 'B' (for my UK friends) resp. a 'good' (for my German friends). I'm very glad about it, because it was my very last try ever - if I had failed I hadn't continue my thesis any longer. It have had been a total waste of two years. But now I've passed and I'm very happy about it.

But yesternight it wasn't that good for everything: my nerves, my mood, my neighbour Tony (who is a die-hard ManUtd fan - God forgive him!) and so on. I've discovered, that I still have some fan-feelings for JT (also Petr - so I will support the Czech Republic during the European Championship because of the missing of England and Ireland). So I thought today why you can't support two teams. Isn't it possible to love two clubs at the same time? I mean - the love you give for a football club (or any other sport club) isn't the same you give to your partner in real life. So, there are a few players I like in both clubs - Richard Dunne and John Terry at the very top because both of them are the very heart of their clubs and they're would be a very deep cut if they would move somewhere else.

What I want to say with all this: In the next days I will move forward into a more personal Livejournal, where I support both clubs, ManCity AND Chelsea ([info]suilven, I think, you will understand me). I will add some more icons, will have a new surface and so on. And I will open my LJ again for all users (not all entries, but some).

So, bye for now - I think tomorrow I will start the transformation - would be nice to hear some feedback about that.
